Victim services
Being a victim of crime can be distressing and traumatic and it is important to know where to get information and support.
Talking about their experience and being around people who offer compassion and understanding can help victims come to terms with their feelings and their ordeal.
Department of Corrective Services (DCS) offers mediation between victims of crime and offenders through the Victim-offender Mediation Unit (VMU).
DCS maintains a Victim Notification Register that allows victims to receive information about the offender for as long as that person is under DCS supervision for that offence.
The Department of the Attorney General or the Victims of Crime website also provide victim support services.
