Substantive equality

The Department of Corrective Services believes all people should be given a fair go.

As a result, the Department is implementing a Substantive Equality Policy to ensure all people are treated fairly and are recognised for their diversity.

The policy aims to:

• eliminate systemic racial discrimination
• promote sensitivity to the different needs of its service users
• ensure services address the needs of service users, providing them with fair outcomes regardless of their ethnic or cultural background, gender or personal conditions.
