The Wandoo Reintegration Facility, formerly the Young Adults Facility, is the State's second privately-operated correctional facility.
Wandoo is a minimum security prison catering for young men aged between 18 and 24 years focused on addressing the specific needs of this group to break the cycle of their offending.
This will be achieved through vocational education, employment and positive reintegration into the community.
In March 2012 the Department entered into a 5 year contract with Serco Australia for the operation and maintenance of Wandoo.
The contract emphasises the need to ensure the safety and security of the prison and aims to drive innovation in service delivery.
Serco will partner with Mission Australia to deliver a throughcare model that promotes successful reintegration back into the community.
The Department provides onsite monitoring services at Wandoo. The monitoring ensures daily operational information is provided to the Contract Manager and assists Wandoo as an early warning system for potential issues.
