Researchers, evaluators, students and academics are encouraged to conduct research that supports the Department’s policy development and strategic priorities.
Research and projects contribute to the Department’s body of knowledge around the justice system and enhance evidenced-based decision making.
The Department’s strategic research priorities can be provided to students and researchers on request.
An application is required for any research that requires access to Departmental policy, procedures, facilities, staff, clients (including victims) or data.
All research and evaluations need to be approved, prior to commencement, by the Department’s Research and Evaluation Committee.
To apply to undertake research or evaluations within the Department, download the available information and application forms. The Terms of Reference, Code of Conduct and expression of interest forms should be reviewed and completed before making any application. Researchers and evaluators are encouraged to submit an expression of interest application prior to a full application.
The information available on this website will assist you to prepare your application. Submission of a detailed application will aid the prompt assessment and approval of projects.
Applications for research will only be accepted in the format provided by the Department.
