Court Security and Custodial Services
Most of the State’s court security and custodial services are provided under a private contract established in 2000.
The State Government approved a request to transfer ownership of the Court Security and Custodial Services contract from AIMS Corporation to Global Solutions Limited (GSL) in July 2007.
The current term of the contract expires in July 2011.
GSL employs about 300 staff to deliver the services in courts, some police lockups and to transport prisoners throughout Western Australia.
Services are provided by GSL to the Department of Corrective Services, Department of the Attorney General and WA Police in the metropolitan and major regional centres.
The Department of the Attorney General administers the Court Security and Custodial Services Act 1999 on behalf of the Minister for Corrective Services, while the Department of Corrective Services manages the contract operations on their behalf.
An annual report on the contract is submitted to Parliament and can be viewed on the Department of the Attorney General website.
