Community Liaison Group

Downloads are available below

Karnet Prison Farm is working with the local community via a Community Liaison Group (CLG), which was formed in May 2009.

The aim of the group is to build on Karnet's involvement in local community projects. This brings enduring benefits to local residents, businesses and sporting clubs and helps offenders build skills that will help them gain employment when they are released.

Members of the group represent a cross-section of interests including local business, educational, cultural, government and community organisations.

CLG members act as a communication point between the prison and the community and have the opportunity to present ideas for supervised community work projects for approved prisoners.  The current members are:

  • David Bradbury, Anglican Church – (08) 9525 0247
  • Sergeant Glen Dewhurst, Mundijong Police Station – (08) 9525 5121
  • Michael Geurds, Serpentine/Jarrahdale Shire Councillor – (08) 9525 0505
  • Richard Gorbunow, Serpentine/Jarrahdale Shire Director of Engineering – (08) 95261193
  • Frances Luke, Alcoa of Australia, Neighbour Relations Consultant – (08) 9530 2527
  • Athol Wigg, Justice of the Peace and retired Shire Councillor – (08) 9525 4140

Criteria for membership include:

  • live or work in the local area
  • show commitment to local issues
  • demonstrate relevant life and/or professional skills
  • represent the views of a local interest group
  • be available to attend regular meetings at the prison farm.

For more information about the new CLG, download a prospective member's information kit and application form, or phone Karnet Prison Farm Assistant Superintendent Graham Bond on (08) 9526 3200.
