Clinical nurse specialist

Clinical specialists work with a team of health care professionals in the delivery of care to our patients with complex health needs.
Community corrections officer
Community corrections officers (CCOs) work with adult offenders to:
- reduce offending
- protect the community
- direct offenders toward law-abiding lifestyles to help create safer communities.
CCOs use research-based contemporary counselling and interventions to achieve positive behaviour change in adult offenders.
Juvenile custodial officer
Juvenile custodial officers (JCOs) are role models with broad life experience who encourage and motivate young people to turn their lives around for the better. At the same time, they ensure the safe custody of the detainee and the security of the community. A career as a JCO provides rewarding opportunities for personal growth, career satisfaction and making a real difference to the lives of young people.

We are a committed agency that continually recruits for skilled and enthusiastic staff in all our occupational groups. There are a range of roles and positions that support the day-to-day running of DCS. A range of job opportunities exist for professional, technical, administrative and general support staff, including:
- management, human resource, finance, training, and occupational health and safety practitioners
- information technology programmers, analysts and support officers
- policy officers and analysts, project officers and strategic planners
- public relations, media liaison and publications officers
- cleaners, gardeners and maintenance staff
- secretarial, clerical, reception and data entry staff.
Prison officer
As a prison officer, you provide services to manage the State’s remand and sentenced prisoners. You supervise every aspect of a prisoner’s life, including their physical needs and wellbeing. The tasks a prison officer is expected to complete vary according to the security level of the prison in which they are employed. DCS manages 12 maximum, medium and minimum security prisons and seven prisoner work camps across the vast state of Western Australia.
Psychologist / Social worker
Psychologists (clinical or counselling) and social workers provide a range of assessment and intervention services for adults and juveniles in custody and the community.
Working as a psychologist or social worker, you may work in various sections of DCS but always work towards the ultimate aim of increasing community safety
Teacher / Trainer / Trades person
The Education and Vocational Training Unit within DCS helps students to acquire, develop, practice and apply knowledge, skills and attitudes they need now and in the future to take responsible control of their own lives.
