Bunbury Prison has a team of carefully selected prisoners working on community projects throughout the South-West region.
This work contributes to community facilities and helps prisoners to repay society for their offending.
Recent projects undertaken by Bunbury Regional Prison prisoners include:
- building rock retaining walls, stairs and shelter at Camp Mornington
- sand dune rehabilitation at Injidup Beach
- maintenance work on the Cape to Cape walking trail
- construction work at the Yarri campsite on the Mudda Biddi
- track construction at Sugarloaf, on the Cape to Cape trail.
The work is part of a State-wide prisoner community work program. Each year, prisoners around WA complete work in their local areas valued at $4 million per year.
